Just as we had informed on several occasions, Royal Decree 1515/2009 came into force on the 3rd of October, 2009. This law states that "An Identification and Registration System has been established for Equines", thus establishing a timeline for all horses, whatever the breed, to be identified and registered in the Stud Books handled by the corresponding Breed Association. Once the established deadline has expired, the responsibility of identifying equines depends upon (in the case of Spain) the Regional Government and in all other EU countries, the corresponding issuing body.
