2016
As of the first of January of this year (1-1-2016), the newest EU legislation allows horses to be registered after the established date with the breed’s Stud Book, with no need to have a prior passport (granted for equine breeding and production) issued by the Regional/Local Government.
From now on, and in the case of horses requesting registration (inscription) after the deadline, should consider the following points:
-If you already have Passport for Equine Breeding and Production, this will be substituted for a completely new passport, issued by the LG PRE ANCCE stud book office, using the previously given UELN.
-Should the horse have no prior passport, a completely new passport will be issued by the LG PRE ANCCE stud book office, and the corresponding UELN will be assigned.
In all cases, the fee to register (inscribe) a horse, after the established deadline, will remain the same (€300). As stipulated by said legislation, the passport will have the words “Duplicado” (duplicate) (even if it really isn’t a duplicate, but rather a past deadline registration, but that is what EU legislation states), and said horse will never be considered apt for slaughter and later human consumption.
